Rasa Yoga is a profoundly healing practice that combines various Tantrik yoga techniques to promote self-awareness and holistic healing. Rooted in traditional knowledge, Rasa Yoga incorporates sound, movement, breathing, and meditation while fostering a profound sense of self-inquiry. To benefit the world and themselves, practitioners of this special practice are assisted in overcoming their fears, letting go of emotional obstacles, and discovering their innate creativity.
Rasa yoga is fundamentally an invitation to investigate the body, mind, and soul via the six tantric practices of asana, mantra, mudra, meditation, pranayama, and introspection. The 6 Pillars of Rasa Yoga
The physical poses in yoga are called asanas, and they help to strengthen and align the body while opening up the channels for energy to flow more freely. Rasa Yoga views asanas as a means of embodying sacred shapes that unlock potential energy, in addition to being a means of improving physical fitness. They strengthen your bond with your inner self and help you maintain your sense of groundedness by building a bridge between your body and mind. Regular asana practice makes you more emotionally and physically aware, empowering you to face your limitations and fears gracefully.
A common example of a mantra used to invoke the qualities of transformation and destruction of ego is "Om Namah Shivaya." This mantra can guide practitioners through difficult life changes, allowing them to release fear, surrender control, and embrace personal growth. Regularly chanting a mantra like "Om Namah Shivaya" helps quiet the mind and strengthens the heart's resolve. Mantras are powerful, vibrational sounds or phrases that help align the mind with higher consciousness. A true medicine for the mind.
The hand gestures known as mudras or more specifically Hasta Mudras (hasta=hand, mudra=gesture) are symbolic and control the body's energy flow. When paired with asanas and mantras, mudras enhance yoga's transformational potential. Each mudra in Rasa Yoga is intended to elicit particular mental and physical states, which helps you better direct your energy. For example, chanting mantras with the hands pressed together in front of the heart or the Anjali Mudra promotes feelings of gratitude and devotion.
Deep inner peace and mental stillness are fostered during Rasa Yoga meditation. Regular meditation in Brønshøj teaches you to notice your thoughts and feelings objectively, enabling you to face your fears in a non-judgmental environment. Releasing emotional tension, "untying the knots of the heart," and reaching a more genuine version of yourself all depend on the clarity that comes from meditation.
Another key component of Rasa Yoga is pranayama or breathwork. It helps control the body's flow of prana, or life force energy, which supports mental clarity and emotional balance. Conscious breathing techniques, such as alternate nostril breathing, are used to calm the nervous system and center the mind, enabling practitioners to face their fears with resilience and calm.
Self-inquiry is the last principle of the rasa yoga retreat in Brønshøj. It invites you to delve deeply within to find patterns and hidden truths. Facing your fears and identifying potential roadblocks to your creative or spiritual development, self-inquiry helps you let go of limiting beliefs and rediscover your life's original purpose.
