What is Foundation Training?

Foundation training is a ground-breaking programme, developed by Dr. Eric Goodman, chiropractor and movement expert in order to heal his own chronic back pain and avoid surgery for multiple disc herniations.

Foundation Training is a simple solution that gives you the means to change the way you move and correct the imbalances caused by our modern habits.

​Through a series of body-weight exercises, Foundation Training activates your posterior muscle chain, anchors the hips, decompresses the spine, and teaches you to take the burden of supporting the body out of your joints and put it where it belongs; in your muscles.


No matter your age or your fitness level, Foundation Training puts you on the path to wellness.
The breakdowns we see in the body are similar in almost everyone and show up like all or some of the following:

​1) Back pain
2) Shoulder Pain / Neck Pain
3) Hip Pain / Knee Pain
4) Carpal Tunnel to Shin Splints

If any of these symptoms are regular "visitors" in your own body, chances are great that Foundation Training can relieve you of pain and restore your body's innate power.

Hrönn has been practising foundation trainings since 2015 and became a certified instructor 2019.

This movement modality has helped Hrönn regain strength and power in her low back after recurrent disc herniations. Today she is not only pain free and knows exactly what to do if the symptoms start to flair up, and she also feels stronger! 

How do I learn the practice?
A great way to begin is to sign-up for a private class with Hrönn or another certified Foundation Trainer in your area. Another option is to participate in an introduction workshop. Check out Hrönn's schedule for upcoming workshops and available one-on-one sessions.
How do I continue to practice?
We recommend that you practice either through the official online training portal on www.foundationtraining.com or participate in a group class with a Foundation Trainer.

Foundation Training Workshop - To be announced soon

This workshop invites you to practice and learn the principles of Foundation Training. 
Everything we do is either building us up or breaking us down. This becomes a lot more apparent with decades of ingrained patterns and habits. Foundation Training is a unique combination of pre-habilitation and rehabilitation, meaning it both prevents and helps treat pain and injuries.
Foundation Training works with all bodies to counteract the daily grind
Phones, computers, and commuting have created postures and patterns that lead to degeneration. Learn how to position yourself and move in a way to counterbalance what is destructive, making modern conveniences a tool rather than a threat.

Participate in life without pain

Don’t buy in to the idea that getting older means falling apart and/or giving up what you enjoy doing. Your body is always adapting, ready and willing to change if you offer it the right input. Lifting heavy things, be it tree branches, groceries, or children, should be moments in your day when you feel strong and capable. Exercise should be a pleasure with your focus on exploring rather than avoiding
